HA staff question re: attachments

Dooooh!!!! I'm a dumbass!!!! :o :o I just realized I've accumulated a wealth of pics in a Works portfolio---a part of MS Works. Problem is it saves all images as bit map files. Damn thing saves the link back to the source but in some cases if it's a broken link or it's back to a paysite i'm no longer a member of then i'm screwed. Can BMP files be converted or compressed to be meet your file extension criteria????
