I spoke to someone who was involved in the porn trade in London. I was surpised to learn that it does not pay well. Escorts can earn far more and their identities are secret. I was told by one that she can earn more in a day than what porno producers pay for a film. It may take 2-3 hours to shoot a film where they are paid £500. The producer/film maker could make £10k.

So what is the attraction? Ive seen some films made by Ben Dover where he uses unkknown teenage girls. They wont get rich from it. Maybe they do it to get noticed in the industry, or for extra money. But they will be known permanently for what they did, unlike escort which pays more. Or do some have an exhibitionist nature? Dont porn stars regret it later?

The porn industry in general does not pay much at all,but still there is an inherent difference in the industry when it comes to female performers,male and TS's .

In straight porn the guys make very little and having done a few movies awhile back I can also testify that its not much fun contrary to public perception.
Female performs however can make some movies and then hit the strip club circuit as a feature performer,travelling around the US and appearing at gentlemen clubs on a weekend and make a good deal of cash from the money she makes from the club paying her for the appearance,tips on stage,and selling of merchandise and polaroids after each performance.

Ts's on the other hand do not enjoy that luxury sadly and escorting is the only place to meet their fans.Dont get me wrong,some porn females escort too,but the percentage isnt nearly what it is amongst the TS girls.

Or do performers they hire only get pay a set fee ie per hour or day and sign away royalties as part of the agreement? In other words you only make money if you are the producer/distributor?

Typically performers are paid per scene rates dependant upon the type of scene(solo,girl/girl,boy/girl,b/b/g etc...etc....)

Unless its a performers own production,talent is not typically given any residuals whatsoever.

The big names like you mentioned indeed have some cash and that $ was made from producing their own lines,and yeah a Lex Steele will command a higher rate then you or I because..well because hes hung like a horse and can get it up,keep it up and cum on cue,which isnt easy w/ 20 bored crew members staring at you and directors barking out orders to move your leg cuz u are blocking a shot.This is why you see the same 10-20 guys in straight porn over and over...its not an easy job...and it costs money when you run over time due to "wood issues"

Well Brasilan girls get payed something like 100 - 200 bucks a scene while the American girls who are known to keep your movies off the shelfs get 10 times that ammount. Vanitty was known to be charging 3gs for a scene for a while, I think she pissed too many people off and had to re-evaluate her worth... LOL

So there are hundreds of wannabee female porn stars desperate to break into it? Is it easier to get into than normal entertainment/showbiz, for peanuts? But once they make one film the whole world knows about it so to speak, and it could come back to haunt you. Wasnt there a famous oriental porn star, suzie chong???
