Do you care about the resolution of your porn videos?

It's been like 5 years since we've last had the discussion on here, so I'm curious how people's feelings have changed with the technology.


When you watch your porn - does the resolution of the video matter to you? What are your the screens you watch porn on able to handle-- HD (1280 x 720), Full HD (1280 x 720), or 4K (3840 x 2160)?


What about a video you already own: If it gets remastered in a higher resolution (and assuming there's no "upscaling" shennanigans), do you care enough to want to re-aquire it?

Just as storage becomes cheaper and people have larger and larger HDDs or indeed NASs, along comes streaming which makes the issue more about bandwidth and connection speed.

Personally speaking, if I'm just dying to crack off some knuckle children (:D), then I really don't give a hoot about the resolution. As long as it's SD or better (ie. 540 or bigger), I'm happy. I have some really old clips in my "library" that are so grainy, they're not really watchable.

But to answer your question, I wouldn't pay a (significant) premium for 4K and so on, no matter how outstanding the performances or the production.

Only up to a point. SD DVD quality was enough for me. 1080p shit I could take it or leave it. And I actively dislike 4k

To be fair back when regular HD became the norm, there was a grooby comic that highlighted all the new sins that could be seen on models after the change. Higher resolutions just make those issues worse.

To me 4k, totally unnecessary and 720 is OK. It's porn, not a documentary about mating penguins in the arctic.

When downloading, I start with 540 and depending on the size of the file I'll go 720. When streaming, 720 is good enough for me. When I do get a 4K television and/or monitor, I may start watching porn in that resolution.

As for re-acquiring a remastered version of a video that I already own, I think it would depend on which video it was.

I actually do care. 720 or 1080 are my preferences. 480 is acceptable. I pay for certain videos that I could get for free just because of the higher resolution.

I'm the same I don't really like watching 4K. Its too clear. Even more so than real life because often they give angles and lighting in a way you could never experience in real life. It also has a much higher chance of seeing imperfections. I don't like seeing a million different goosebumps on someone's skin. I'm actually growing on 2k over 1080p though with the right girls. The difference is a little better without the motion sickness you can kind of feel sometimes with 4k. Even 720p I think is a great resolution for most TS specifically. Sometimes less can be more with TS porn because you want to portray max femininity and the higher resolution you go the harder it can be to achieve that with the exception of a handful of A listers.

Last time I cammed about a week ago I actually forgot to change my settings because my settings were set lower when I was filming something else earlier. Instead of streaming at (1080P 60 FPS Lanczos scaling) I was streaming at (1080P 48 FPS Bicubic scaling) which is half as sharpened scaling compared to Lanczos. Despite later learning that I didn't stream at my max normal settings that stream went extremely well. I think I will start using Bicubic scaling instead, but I will probably go back to 60 FPS.

most of the porn i dl is in 720p if it is a new girl i may want to watch or someone that i just am mostly interested in.

now, if it is one of my most favorite models, i dl her stuff in 1080p.

i don't dl anything in 4k because i don't feel like waiting for such a large file to dl if i want to fap right away and I also find it to be a waste of hdd space and bandwidth.

I care more about how the technical stuff (lighting, audio etc.) (I work in video, no, I don't shoot porn). You can shoot in 4K or in 480i, if it doesn't look good, I'm not interested.

720 is minimum, 1080 is standard. If I like the girl and production values are high enough, 4K is no brainer. If 4K is too clear for some model, she probably shouldn't be filmed at all...

Update: On a 27inch monitor, even 1080 isn't large.

That being said, I agree with Lily Rox in that 2k would be perfect!
