It's ridiculous to see that girls like Allanah who should set a positive example for the ts community still go to that show which does nothing but insult transsexual women.

your comment is ridiculous...the TV shows are just entertainment and publicity, like the photo shoots and movies...but you don't complain about the pix or movies...? :?:

I think Allahna and anyone with the guts to go on national TV like that should be applauded. Seeing America needs to see more transsexuals who, do not look like Barney Rubble in a dress, and are real compleate human beings.

At least with appearances like those on Maury she is breaking the ol' you can always tell sterotype. (humm OTOH that could backfire. We don't want peoples transonar to be too well tuned now do we?)

Your comment is ridiculous!

The tgirl shows on Maury are fun

They are his highest rated and most requested shows

1000 times better than his "Am not the father" trash shows

All depends upon how you view it.

sure the hooping and hollering of the audience of
" that's a man - that's a man" can probably gets on
on one's nerves intitially but personally i think
the more overrall exposure tgirls get in a public forum
like the Maury Povich show,
the more it actually helps the transgendered community
in a sense over the long term.

some may disagree but i just don't
think the general public is " exposed " enough to
the TG side of the fence.
This is one way of doing it and it's not the
vicious comment shot that Jerry Springer show
allows the audience to take at the TGirls that appear
on his show.

i like that a number of people continued to be
very much confused, hesitant,
really can't figure out who is really a TG or GG.
the point that these shows easily remain one of Maury's
highest rating shows proves how much of a
general interest in it and like it or not, disapprove or not,
i think there's some use and benefits to be taken
advantage of in one way or another.

i really admire the girls that have the courage,
self- confidence and determination to appear on his shows.

a few girls more than just once.

I'M ON THAT SHOW..FOR THE 3RD TIME..THE BREAK DOWN IS PRETTY MUCH THIS..THE SHOW IS MEANT FOR ENTERTAINMENT..SUCKS THAT THEY ARE VERY POLITICALLY WRONG AND ARE NOT SENSITIVE TO OUR COMMUNITY...IN THIS CASE..U HAVE TO SEE IT AS HOW IS IT BENIFICIAL TO US AS WELL...EXPOSURE FOR THE INDIVIDUAL MAINLY...BUT ALSO A CHANCE FOR THEM TO SEE REAL TRANSSEXUAL...NOW THAT THE ICE IS BROKEN..WHEN CAN LATER EXPLAIN WHO WE ARE...KEEP IN MIND IN MOVIES AND TV...WE HAVE A VERY FALSE REPRESENTATION OF TS....MID AMERICANS THINKS TS IS A MAN IN A DRESS....

I love the shows, but I love t/sgirls and so the opportunity to see them is welcomed. But I have a transgender friend who hates the shows and calls them degrading.
Surely it is not flattering that people can't tell what you are and make a carnival show out of it--- I think it's most insulting to the GG's that can't pass!!
And I agree that exposure is ultimately good for the t/s community, but I selfishly like the fact that the t/s world is underexposed and I can have them all to myself!!!

Yasmin, I understand what you mean. However, Maury, presents himself as a true newsman, but he presents transexuals as Freaks. They are paraded out for the lurid amusement of lunitics. These are not people who will ever take any pains to know you or other transexual women. (Unless some guy in the audience rubs himself the wrong way and wets his pants.)
I would rather see beautiful articulate women like yourself appear on a more serious show and discuss your life, your emotions, your hardhips. We can all learn.
As an aside. How cool would it be if Maury's little wife turned out to be a Ladyboy and fucks his brains out every night!
Love you Yasmin.

why the bashing of the Maury show??
nobody bashes eros.com, or the movies girls are in...?
just seems so ridiculous... the promotional part (tv shows, websites) is just the business aspect.. just like your own 9-5... why should the girls not use another outlet for promotion like the maury show?

if you think that show is not tasteful, thats fine...but don't be a hypocrite.. i never see anyone posting negative replies of all the "post your big tetas pic" threads, or "biggest ts cock" threads...

I haven't caught the Maury shows in a very long time, so I can't speak either way.

In the few times that I watched have the Springer show, it made my soul sad for all that participate on it, including Springer.

My concern is, as to balance.

As a transwoman of color, if all I saw of Black people on TV was the shucking and jiving, hip hopping, drug dealing, criminal sterotypes of my people, I would not be happy.

Chiefly, because it does not accurately represent the full spectrum of Black people.

Transwomen are my people too. And I am very proud, and admirous of the women that go on those shows. They are beautiful, smart and talented.

If Maury, Springer are allowing these women to speak, to share their experiences, to say what is in their hearts, and minds, that's one thing.

But, if they are paraded out there for a game of 'whose a guy', or 'spot the tranny'.

Then that does not show our full spectrum.

I remember skipping school back in the day and seeing TS women on shows like these and getting all horned up by them. I think it sucks they dont promote how rad these girls are, but I think they do create fans, regardless how the show is promoted; I mean t-girls are freakin' hot!!

Finally, a tranny of color with some consciousness. Too many have this two-dimensional view of life. It's all about designer clothes, makeup, money and other "Top Model" nonsense. Peggygee, maybe your maturity has deepened your perspective, as I can count on one hand how many have your level of insight. Seems like they're too concerned with getting their shine on! Anyway, I just thought your post was very insightful and wanted to give some props. I personally dislike the way media characterizes African-Americans and Latinos, yet most of my brothers and sisters are just way too far gone to care. I guess trannies have the same problem, yet most are just too simplistic to care about Maury Povich or Jerry Springer exploiting him, as long as they are getting their "15 minutes of fame".

My bad I meant "exploiting them" not "him". Just a typographical error not trying to dis my beautiful trannies.

I don't recall Eros or Shemaleyum claiming to be 'serious' news/talk shows.

I can't speak for Maury, but Springer is contrived/scripted. I've only seen one sequence (The one Princessa Gianna was featured on a short time ago) and within a few moments of the start I was staring at the screen and laughing because (Based on known-knowns from within the community) I saw the entire thing as an act. The only reason I watched it was to see the lovely Gianna as close to in-person as I can get.

I mean c'mon, the man used to be mayor of Toledo fercryinoutloud.

eventually it may go into more positively influencing
documentaries and serious talk shows than sideshows
like Maury and Jerry .

Like Tyra Banks who has a very high profile and popular
show and has had transexual topic shows
with transexual guests and appearances
from specialists who work/treat the trangendered.

... may have to crawl ( maury) before U walk ( tyra, montel)
Interesting enough, Tyra has openly claimed that she got
her " model walk" thru watching/studying drag queens.

When it comes to transsexuals, I put Tyra in a different category, than Jerry or Maury. I think Tyra shows beautiful transsexuals in a positive light. Whereas, people watch Maury looking for Adam's Apples, hand and foot sizes, voice timbre and crotch bulges to see who the "real woman" is. It's good for an adult performer's publicity machine, much like GGs going on Howard Stern, but shows can be demeaning at times.

Who in thier right mind would ever equate Maury's show to anything even close to serious news or even serious talk?

He wasn't even serious news when he hosted the tabloid junk show Current Affair and a trashy talk show like Maury is 20 steps down from that.

I've been in the fetish community for 25+years. This board and it's subject is all new to me. Howard Stern might play with his spanking machine and he may only give pretend spankings to only pretty girls, but I'm happy that he helps to bring it into the mainstream. I saw Ruby and others on the mauri show and her manner was nothing but class. You could tell Mauri liked her and if it takes a fun "spot the Tranny" show to let people get used to tgirls in public, then so be it. You can't ram your values down mid-americas throat. My god, look what just happen with all of the gay marriges. Talk about a backlash. There was more legislation than ever against it and most of the marriges were overturned in court.
Tyra Banks show is alot different than Top Model. She is out to "out-oprah" Oprah. She had a show on dancers and used it as a vehicle to trash those in the business while showing everyone she was above all that. I was pissed off with her whole agenda.
While you may have problems with some calling tgirls "guys in dresses", remember that many t-girls are more than just misunderstood people. They are in the adult entertainment industry and that is even harder to 'sell' to most of America. Good luck on the show. Have some fun and change a few more peoples mind at the same time.
So there. :~)

i don't recall saying anything about shemaleyum, or eros being a news/talk show... this whole thread started by bashing the girls for going on the maury show degrading themselves to such a terrible outlet of exposure... in which i just stated... why are they just bashing the maury show if they feel that way?
