Ironic isn`t it,just when the Pope laid it on the line concerning Islam:

Some Democrats remain silent on Ellison

WASHINGTON -- - Usually, everybody loves a winner.
But some Democrats had little to say Wednesday about DFL primary winner Keith Ellison, who seems to have a good chance to become Minnesota's first black congressman, and the first Muslim in Congress.

Among those who maintained their silence: Rep. Martin Sabo, D-Minn., who has had a 28-year hold on the seat Ellison is seeking. Sabo was backing his chief of staff, Mike Erlandson, who finished second.

Republicans, meanwhile, weren't squeamish about slamming Ellison over his past ties to Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan. Said Ron Carey, chairman of the Minnesota GOP: "This ain't your daddy's DFL."

Why do you say he is a member of the "Nation of Islam". Not all African American Muslims are members of the nation of Islam. Most are just run of the mill orthodox sunni or qurani muslims. But most of us will still defend minister Farakhan's statements of black empowerment.

Given that African muslims were among the first slaves brought here and immigrant muslims have been here in numbers for many many decades it is about time one of us was in congress. Now if only we could get Barrack Obama to revert to his fathers religion after being elected president.... That would be a real coup de ta .
